Samsung Galaxy phones run One UI, which changes menu labels depending on your carrier region and software version. This guide uses the path that works on the largest number of Galaxy devices. If a label looks slightly different on your phone, follow the closest match.
- Open Settings.
- Tap Connections.
- Tap SIM Manager.
- Tap Add eSIM.
- Select "Scan QR code from service provider."
- Scan the QR code from your Roamiya confirmation email, or tap the Gallery icon to upload a screenshot of the code.
- Tap Add when the prompt appears.
The profile download typically finishes in under a minute. Stay on WiFi until it completes.
If your camera cannot read the code or the screen is cracked:
- In SIM Manager > Add eSIM, look for "Enter activation code manually" or tap the text link below the scanner.
- Open your Roamiya confirmation email and copy the SM-DP+ Address and Activation Code.
- On newer Galaxy devices (One UI 5.1+), you get separate fields for each value. Paste them in order.
- On older Galaxy devices, you may need to combine them into one string:
LPA:1$SM-DP-ADDRESS$ACTIVATION-CODE. Paste the combined string.
If manual entry also fails, confirm your phone is not carrier-locked. See our
locked vs. unlocked phones guide for how to check.
After the eSIM installs, change three settings to make sure your phone uses the Roamiya plan for data and does not route traffic back through your home carrier.
- Go to Settings > Connections > SIM Manager.
- Under Preferred SIMs, set Mobile data to your new Roamiya eSIM.
- Keep Calls and Messages on your physical SIM so people can still reach your home number.
In the same SIM Manager screen, find "Auto data switching" and turn it OFF. When this is on, your Galaxy silently switches back to your home SIM whenever WiFi signal drops, which triggers roaming charges on your home bill.
- Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks.
- Toggle Data Roaming to ON.
On some Galaxy models, data roaming is a per-SIM setting. If your phone shows separate SIM toggles, turn roaming ON for the Roamiya eSIM only and leave it OFF for your home SIM.
"Registration Failed" during install
This usually means the WiFi connection dropped mid-download or the phone is locked. Switch to a stronger WiFi network and retry. If it fails again, check your lock status in Settings > Connections > SIM Manager -- if the eSIM option is missing entirely, your phone may not support eSIM or may be carrier-restricted.
Data works but it is slow
Your Galaxy may have selected a congested network band. Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > Network Mode and make sure LTE/3G/2G (auto connect) is selected. For more diagnosis, see our
slow internet speed guide.
eSIM disappeared from SIM Manager after a restart
This is rare but can happen if the profile download was interrupted. Re-scan the QR code. If the code says "already used," the profile may still be partially installed. Try
manual activation or contact support.
